john, what are the your thoughts and or chances on putting up a chatroom?

Some like them , some don't. I can't keep up. You have to read and type too fast.

Anyway , I will seldom participate in a chatroom.

You have the SOL chat room already set up, so you could schedule a chat there :). I set up an ICQ chat on a freshwater board for every other Tuesday, until people became bored, then there is mIRC. There are numerous ways to set up chats, with or without John setting it up on this board. ICQ seemed to work pretty good and my wife hits a few of her favorite mIRC chats and that looked similar. Bottom line is someone could set it up tomorrow and anyone interested would only need to download the free software and join in at a scheduled time.

There is certain things I can get away with and certain things I can't. I'd want to tie it into the user system and I'd want to investigate some of the security too... But it can be done...

I think its a great idea. IRC is the easiest way to go but the least secure.
