lead jigs-paint or powder??
 

I'd like to try and put a few bucktails together from molds. So what are the pros and cons of spray paint or powder?
Artistic I am not....

Its probably more of a personal preference than anything else. I've had good luck with the powder paints. Produces a nice, hard surface without any fumes.

Yeah, like Jigman said, personal preference. I use the vinyl paints, they work great but I've seen plenty of powder paint work and its pissa to. Depends on how you want to work. I don't have a heat source handy so I put up with the fumes (actually use a respirator)
A friend of my uses powder paint and bakes em on his barbeque. Either way a lot of good work can be done, just a different technique involved. Depends on your own preferences.:D

Do you have to treat the lead coming out of the mold to accept paint?
I think I may try some powder; I have a propane torch to sweat copper pipes....

No, just trim away any excess and paint.:D

Jigman: Would you share how you designed the fluid bed in regards to the how you forced air thru the bed and what is used to vibrate the cup?

Propane torch will work fine for heating the heads. No special prep needed. You'll need an oven to bake them in afterwards. You can get a cheap toaster oven that will do the trick. Just need to set up a rack in it to hang the jigs. They can be used without curing in the oven, but the paint will not hold up as well.

The fluid bed I use came from Component Systems. They make the powder and vinyl paints.
