epoxy?
i just tried envirotex for the first time. was wondering how long you guys wait before a 2nd coat? i have some spots that are making me want to do one. thanks in advance.
i get them fully covered on the first coat...i find it alot easier to miss spots on the second coat because it's already glossy.
Once they are coated i check them about every 15 min. for the first hour or so to make sure i didn't miss any spots or have any spots that are sagging because of excess epoxy. i wait a few days before touching them......instructions say 72 hours for hard cure at room temp. |
one good coat gives me the finish i like. if you have to recoat, you can after 24 hrs with no ill effects.
I agree with Afterhours....1 coat is nice!:D
One coat works for me too :D
i usually only do 1 coat, but the envirotex is completely different than devcon, and i have a spot or two that look like hell. i dont like how thin the envirotex is, but i guess i'll get used to it.
Redneck...I find that due to the e-tex being thinner, it makes it easier to spread, in my opinion, and also has a longer window in which to use it. Coat your plug, check it and see if you missed any spots and if you did, go ahead and put some e-tex on the spot. All set!;)
Also, you might have coated all of the plug and you go back to double check and there are bald spots.. this is becuase might have missed a spot with alcohol or you you missed a spot with the 800 grit paper.

I like to thin the devcon with epoxy reducer. It becomes easier to spread and flows better.I also add a little glitter to the mix. This helps me know its thouroughly mixed. When the glitter is uniformly dispersed in the epoxy I know the epoxy is fully mixed. The glitter also helps me see when I missed a spot.:D
