Plumbing question - leaky valve

The hot water shut-off below my kitchen sink is dripping from the stem. Is there any way I can repair this, or do I just need to solder in a new valve?

thanks,

valve should have a packing nut, gently take up on it and the leak should stop,
plan B is to replace the packing.
taking up on the packing nut should do it though.
