Hot kill squirrles in the attic?
 

They are going nuts in my attic/rafters. Any sugestions on how to thin them out? Ive sealed up all the entrances that i can find but they find a way in there. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem in my house before I moved. A pellet gun or a .22, depending on where you live, is the easiest way and provides some entertainment value. If that's not an option rat traps with a peanut wired to the bait tray does the trick. Havehearts do not work, unless you're willing to transport them a fair distance away, like several miles. Otherwise they'll beat you back into the house.

Two confirmed kills with a pelet gun. Ending the destruction they were causing, and fast!

from what I have heard one of the quickest ways is to put down an unfolded sticky mouse traps they'll get caught on it then you can do what you like with it. :devil:
O-one more thing!You are not covered by your Insurance Co.for any damage these Criters cause!
So you might want to get rid of them ASAP!

Not a fun project but an interesting one!

If you don't have pets or young kids, do what I just did--poison the bastages. Mix up some rat poison with some crushed peanuts.

When my wife lived in upstate NY, she had a groundhog that was eating its way thru her tomatoes. She tried the have-a-heart. Goes out the next morning and there's one very pissed off skunk in it. Got a cheap plastic rainsuit from K-Mart, used a 20' long pole and dropped the trap, skunk and all, in the pool. So yeah, those things don't float :D Nothing else would ever go in that trap afterwards, of course, and it wound up in the dump.

We no longer "have a heart" when it comes to pain-in-the-ass animal pests ;)

Seriously, a well-aimed shot with a .22 (where allowed) or a high-velocity .177 airgun is much more quick and humane than glue traps.

I've taken them down fine with one of those cheepo chinese air rifles, any twitching can be solved with a flat shovel.

Can I come over and play?

It works with rats and mice.

I think it will also work with squirles.

It is charged with 8 aa bateries,and fries them.

The problem with poison is the get in the walls and die. After that they will smell for a couple weeks.

my friend used regular rat traps. some were still moving, you crush their skull with a mallet or something.

I don't think you can poison squirles.

Ahhhhh is there a humane way to kill?

I covered up the entrance. A nice hole chewed right thru the soffet. I got a couple last year with a pellet gun. I will borrow the neighbors tomorrow and thin the heard out a bit more. Easy pickins on the bird feeder. it will also save me a bunch of cash on birdseed. And a trip to wallmart for a rat trap is in order. I bet if i nail it to the side of the house where they were getting in i will get the bastards. Cant believe i mispelled the subject to this post as bad as i did. :smash: Thanks for all the info, god help us all if PETA monitors the scuppers.

Here's what I did... after stalking with a pellet gun and getting tired of feeling like Elmer Fudd, I bought two Victor Rat traps. You know, Superduty backbreakers. Tie them down with wire leader and bait them with peanut butter. It'll take a couple of days to kill the first one, the rest come sooner. Keep a bat to put them out of their misery, that's the humane part. Havaheart, pfft! you're just making a longer commute or someone elses problem. Find the hole and foam it up with the super expandable stuff, When it hardens, spray with rodent and deer repellant from Truvalue. Don't get that nasty tasting Shirt in your mouth, brushing won't help. Squirrels are rats. Kill'em.

I had the same problem this fall. They got in through my gable vent...chewed a nice hole and just made themselves at home. After contemplating shooting them...I called the exterminator. Here's what they did.....they covered the vent with some heavy wire screening, except for a small section where they attached a 2 foot length of 6 inch PVC with screws. The PVC was pointed down towards the ground and the end of it was baited with peanut butter. The squirrel leaves the attic and goes into the PVC after the Peanut butter and slides right out and onto the ground. They can't climb back in because of the smooth surface. After about a week and no more noise in the attic....they're gone. remove the tube and cover the vent with more screening.

Believe it or not.....it worked like a dream. I could have done it myself and saved about $150 if I knew what they were going to do....oh...they charge to remove the tube too....I did that part myself. Good luck:D

I helped my buddy with this problem last year... he tried the poison nuts, but had a bunch of dead squirrels in in his attack... one managed to get to the basement and that one we caught in a fluke net and used the shovel. I would strongly advise trying to catch them and then killing/releasing them (your choice) versus the poison peanut route... we ended ripping open walls because he said the smell was getting to be too bad (and he wasn't lying!).
