Quitting smoking
Day 5 now---no butts!

Congrats bro!!! Ive been off the chokeys for almost 5 years now, best thing ive done. 1st week sucks, 2nd week isnt too bad, after the 3rd week its easy.

Think positive Dave, your gonna feel better, foods gonna taste better and lota money saved. Keep tellin your self..... I used to smoke,I did and it worked for me.

It's funny, after only 5 days, things already taste better and I can smell cig. smoke from a mile away.

:claps: Keep up the good work! You wouldn't believe how the manufacturers monkey with tobacco to KEEP you addicted. They are murderers plain and simple and you've escaped them.;)

They say each cigarette takes 11 minutes off your life!:confused: Keep up the good work and you won't have to spend your golden years hauling an oxygen tank around with you.:( I have seen many that had to...sad really! Think about that every time you get the urge.....such a friggin waste.:smash:

Im on my second day
without nicotine gum I was chewing 10-20 pieces a day of 4 mg gum I put a 7 mg patch to take the edge off but I am jonseing for a piece of gum I have not smoked a ciggerette in two years but the gum was really getting to me $$$$$

Congrats Dave you've made the first step!
Identify your triggers that make you WANT to smoke, ELIMINATE them for 30 days. You will feel better and 30 days is the real hurdle. Come back and tell us how you feel in 6 months.....and then a year. Cuz if you think you feel better NOW just WAIT. I think i'm 8 years quit now last January I don't remember the years...2.5 packs a day for 18 years..... |
Fishaholic...how did you do it? Gum? Patch? Cold Turkey? I'm quitting tomorrow...I've tried 3 times before, but never caught on. I'm actually sick of smoking, it doesn't give me any rush like it used to, and now it's more out of habit than anything...any more advice from anybody would be great too. They say smoking is the hardest addiction to knock...even worse than heroin.

Cold turkey.
It's not as bad as I thought, gets easier every day. I still crave after I eat, so I just keep eating. LOL The cravings after eating seem to last less every day. The tough part for me is that my wife smokes, but she's been good enough not to smoke in front of me, that helps. It's mostly a mental thing beleive it or not, setting your mind on quitting is half the battle. Go for it, your lungs will feel better in just a few days. Good Luck! |

Ahhh...the "horking"! Thats the most fun part of smoking from what I can tell. I see people "horking" all the time and their solution is to have another cigarette.:huh: I sure am glad I never smoked cause it sure looks like a real pain in the ass!:smash:

FA, try to exercise, too. It helps your reispatory system. Keep it up, man. My dad used to be a smoker and he stopped it when I was around 4 or less.
