1213 spinning
Has anyone ever wrapped a 1213M spinning?
I love the blank but can't get used to conv. Just curious if anyone has done it??? Dave |
I have a 1213M that is wrapped spinning. I like it a lot. I wrapped it stock length and I used Fuji Alconite BMNAG guides with a Fuji Silicon Nitride BHNNT top. I also used shrink tube as a solid grip and I tape a Fuji plate style reel seat on with friction tape.
I really like the rod, a little heavy but for fish in an around structure and current it works quite well. I use it mostly for jigs and big plugs. I like the slower action especially with braided line. |
stick with the conv. dave. trust me, you'll get it. anytime you want to go out and practice let me know, i'll help you out.

Just Epoxied one about 5 minutes ago, I wrapped it conventional, a guy I fished with late last fall had one and I asked him if I could use it one night, I now belie :rotfl: ve at love at first sight....

Mike built it for me, and rebuilt it again last fall for some reason :rollem: It works great as a spinner, heavy but not too bad. |

is that why you cant get used to it? |
Eben,
I wrapped one spinning and am loving it for slinging eels, I also like the fact that it's fiberglass so I'm not to worried about it shattering on the rocks. I've landed several 30# fish on it this season and it performed nicely. |

I'm gonna camouflage my truck... :hihi:

It got that bad Dave? The 1213 conventional you wrapped is pissa. Me likes a lot.

the 1213m is great as a casting rod in its stock length as it loads heavier plugs and eels perfectly. even if cut down a little it is still nice as a caster.
as a spinner, it may feel a little top heavy, thus the wobble after a cast. but, it is a tigher and more popwerful blank than the 1363m cut. either one makes for a nice, durable, rod in the rocks where an occasional bang against a rock will not hurt it. |

mine wobbles. tonight i took off the 7000 big game and replaced it with a 6500cs mag....... no backlashes, and whooped a couple fish in the mid 20's twice as fast as my 1201L......
This is a great thunderstick.. a tad heavy, but so am I :hihi: |
Try more body english :smokin:

the "tip heavy" is typically due to the guide selection, but it is also due to the beast - this blank is heavy as far as blanks go. some of the sb series blanks in the m power are usually a little tip heavy. this can sometime be compensated with where you place the reel. as for the wobble, that is part of the fun in having a very moderate to slow action rod and the weight of the hardware from the reel up. personally, i just deal with it as there is nothing better than having a glass rod i never need to worry about baby'ing when fishing.

I need a good SEAL STOPPER will this blank work
