Picked her up lastnight.... I don't think i'm gonna be able to go back to shooting .40's after shooting her... The Kimber Ultra CDP II. Insanely accurate and controllable for it's size.. I noticed a bit of punch after about 200 rounds but nothing bad. the checkered grip ensures a great grip.

Hahaha.... I couldn't recall which Kimber you have. It's small for a 45 but nice rounded off edges.. Nothing to get stuck on... Gonna look at the trigger and put some rubber grips on it.

the ring is important ;)... My kimber has to have some work done on it... cartridges aren't emptying after being fired. I think that there is a burr in the barrel. Is the springfield show this weekend? mass laws are all sorts of messed up. In CT if you purchase more than 1 pistol from any given store in a 1 week period you have to fill out a form and send it to the ATF... you can buy multiple guns in a week as long as they aren't from the same store.

Give the barrel, ramp, and ejection port all a good dousing with gun cleaner.
I had a similar problem with my S&W M59. Wasn't always pulling the spent shell casing out of the barrel before it tried to cycle the next one causing a horrendous jam. Of course it hadn't done it in over 5000 rounds until the first time i got in the simulator with it. Was great practice for clearing jams quick and under pressure.

I thought the same thing; maybe a burr or gunk around the end of the barrel. Ended up being that the extractor spring was worn out. I shipped to S&W and they put a new one in. No more problems.
Sounds like you may be having a similar problem.

Kimbers are a very nice custom improvement over the old 1911's.
The old man has 2 of the original Colts. We have to wear gloves when we shoot them cause they take big 'ole chunks out of the hand.

hahaha Mike, I hear ya. I got the rubber hogue grips for my kimber because it was digging into my hand after a while... After talking with Ben lastnight I think it's gotta be either a burr or the extractor isn't working right but it's a new gun.. hmm...

Try puttin a drop or two of Rem Oil on the extractor. Where its a new gun may, be stickin a little and need a little lube.
Very surprised that you're havin issues with it, especially if its a brand new gun. I have heard nothing but good things about Kimber. Makes me question their reliablilty and how secure I'd feel relying on it as a carry gun.:confused:

I've never heard of anyone having any problems either. think it's some fluke problem.

Does that mean that as the slide comes forward to chamber the next round, it is automatically dropping the firing pin to discharge the round?

If so Chris, I WOULD NOT shoot that gun. Very unsafe. I'd be on the horn real quick with both the dealer and Kimber themselves to let them know of my dissatisfaction and concern for them producing such a pricy and unsafe product.

Proably give you a few nice t-shirts when they replace the gun. Tell them you want a different/ new gun. Don't accept to have them repair it for free. Sounds like to me that the pistol has some serious issues.

Yeah, I've talked with the gunsmith already.. it scared the hell out of me. T-bone was there when it happened. I'm going to demand a new gun. I mean i didn't spend that kind of money to have problems right off the bat. that's ridiculous. I'm sure that they'll make good with it though. God knows I've given them enough business.

Weak mags springs would also cause a failure to eject. There are many causes. If you are going to get any work done on your gun (feed ramp polishing, ejection port work etc) I would highly recommend Mike LaRocca in Worcester. Mike is an excellent gunsmith.

Wahlie, So what is the latest on the Kimber issue?
Went to the range saturday to make some noise and put holes in paper.
I think I found something new to do on the cape besides fish. Guy that was there does a lot of IPSIC shooting. He had a sweeeeet Caspian .38 super all tricked out. Thing could double tap through the same hole at 25 feet. He said he can consistently snake eye even out to 200 feet that's how flat and straight .38 super fires. I had no previous knowledge of that caliber before, but the IPSIC shooting has always intrigued me.
Anyhow, he was tellin me about how they do all kinds of comp shooting (baricades and what not) down at Bass River Rod and Gun in Yarmouth. :drool: He invited me down to check it out. Said I should be fine usin my Browning High Powere as that is what he uses in the open sights class. His AR-15 was even sweeter. :drool: :drool:
But fishin be a hell of a lot cheaper.
There was a guy shootin a S+W 500. Talk about a BLASTER.

went shooting on friday(had the day off work) talked to the shop and they said that i'd have a new gun in about a month. curious to see if kimber does anything to make right with this because if people are dropping that kind of change on a pistol and it's having problems out of the box that's bad for PR.
they have plate shooting on friday nights down here with everything ranging from shotguns, pistols(semi's, single action cowboys, sub machine guns.... gotta check it out one night.

I'll come down for the plate shooting. I did it at the club a couple of years ago, it was fun. Fastest for me was 6 plates in about 8 seconds, I threw the 4th shot. That was with a stock HK USP compact. A guy using a very tricked out Les Baer had a time of like 4.3 seconds..

They are supposed to run a bunch of them up in Braintree this year, and the are putting in the mechanical targets too.

I have never read much about Conn. Gun laws as I am very rarely in Conn. but I was assuming it was much like other states. I could transport my firearms through the state as long as they were unloaded, locked, and locked in a gun box. I would not be able to carry the weapon on me, but would be able to use it at a range/ hunting/ or in competitions. Will try and look into it cause I'd defiantely like to come down there for a little bang bang session. Gonna be hard since HR has put a block on any web site with "gun" or "firearm" any where in it.

Is the plate shootin like Specialist is talking about (high speed plinkin) or is it sillouhette shooting?
That was the first "real" gun (other than bb guns) that I shot at about 6.
S&W Model 29 .357 Highway Patrolman's gun with 6 inch barrel and scope. Old man used to do a lot of sillouhette shooting. Only thing that sucks about it is having to walk way the hell down the range to stand them back up. :boots:

They just upped the range fees at my place from $20 a year to $60 a year (Woodcock in Dartmouth) and at that cost, I'd rather look for something closer for reasonable costs. I had looked into becomin a member a few years ago there durin one of the gun shows they have, but wasn't really that enthusiastic about due to lack of flexiablty.

Not a very informative web page. Only .22 pistol? With the distance that means for shotgun they must be usin slugs? OUch. That's a beggin for a sore shoulder. And what qualifies for "pistol caliber carbine"? I see in the pics an MP9 but also an AR15 style gun, unless that is one of those new police guns that shoots 9mm or .40 S&W.

i'm not sure about the shotgun category... i'd imagine that it's not slugs but who knows.... i picked up a ruger 9mm carbine yesterday for this kinda shooting. holds a hi-cap pistol mag... looks very much like a mini-14. Mike, I think that is a 9mm or .40. they don't allow .223 or anything that is a non-pistol cartridge... they do betting and stuff... money, donuts, drinks.... all we need is some ladies shakin' it and we'd be all set. :chased:

I would imagine at that distance (shotgun) you'd have to use slugs. If not all it'd take would be one blast and they would all be down? Where's the competition in that?

Mike I have been a member there for a long time. It is 90 or 95 a year now. Was the new indoor range there when you were last there? Jacketed , and Magnum loads allowed, 24 hr access,and the old indoor range was redone and is the same way. Both have electronic carriers. The gate is open on Sunday mornings, and you can go up and get an application in the new clubhouse. You have to attend a new member meeting, they run one a month on a sunday, and there is a 75 initiation fee. As far as I am concerned best club around for the money. They also hold CMP matches, andpretty regular NRA matches.
