Chunking Rod

Can any of you give me an idea on a chunking rod? I need an inexpensive rod for chunking bait. I need it to have some backbone so I can throw 3-5 oz of bait and weight. I'm looking for a spinning rod. This is just a second pole, so I don't need anything to crazy. Mike, would you have anything at the shop? Thanks for the help. Jay

For fairly low end, check the Ugly Sticks out, they weigh a ton, but for chunking they are low$$$ and bullet proof....

low-end: ugly stick medium heavy. for the money, these are great sticks for chunking.

medium: all-star breakaway LDFC series or similar.

high-end: Outcast 1625 custom wrapped, or conoflex or zziplex.

Talk to Mike about a custom built on a Lami SB 121 3M blank. He can do it full length at 10', or shorten it to 9'. The 9' version is one of the standard Canal chunking/herring rods.

The blank is E-glass, and extremely durable. Shortened to 9' it's not all that heavy, and it puts a hurtin' on fish like few other rods can.

Haven't priced one lately, but I think the blank still runs for under $100.

Mike T had some discontinued Breakaway LDFS 10 footers for about $120 that are a steal and perfect for wjhat you want.

IMO, lami ssb makes for a better chunk rod
