Picked these up tonight - Thought they would look good on the wall. Homemade or mass produced? The silver one has BassTeel, Pat Pend on the sides.

Virtually useless for anything other than paperweights or throwing at the neighbor kids.

The silver one is a "Bassteeler" still in production. They can be had for 3 bucks at Red Top. The other is long out of production. The BASSSTEELER is a great rig unfortunately it has cadmium plated hooks which rust up and stain your skin pretty quickly. You can counter that by putting a dime in the brine with them while in storage. The hooks will discolor but not rust up that quickly.

Looks familar. This is the one I make. Old mold and modern hardware. Paul

Paul, what's with the little round doo-hickey on the back hook?

ProfessorM 03-25-2005 11:57 AM

To keep the skin from sliding down the hook and up the wire. Get's to be a pain in the A. Helps the skin remain horizontal. A piece of rubber made with a punch. I didn't think of it. Probably work good on a single hook set up too. Paul
