Nice Ben. Sorry you feel that way. I just don't think it's right to trash the guy in public and then have a moderator make it sticky.

In a community such as this, public trust is the most important aspect. public attention to the lapse of trust is an acceptbale means IMHO

If the situation is as WeeWee describes, I don't have a problem with it. If the guy can't be trusted he's done this to himself.

i agree, if i did that to anyone i would expect it to be done to me. :hs:

1. This is a public forum, a deal was made in this public forum.

2. It seems to me that every attempt was made to remedy the situation before the step was taken.

3. I for one would want to know if someone I am selling to , or buying from is reliable, kind of like on ebay. Unfortunately we do not have a means of a rating system here as of yet.

4. I have made a transaction with Ben. It went extremely smoothly. I got my product, and Ben got his check in a few days. If it had been a transaction on ebay, Ben would have recieved positve feedback.

5. Ben was making everyone here aware to be cautious when buying, and selling things in the classifieds.

6. Scott if you felt what happened was wrong, even though you were not part of the transaction, you should have sent an email to John. He would have been very happy to deal with the situation. There was no need to start a post trashing someone else on the board.

7. Everyone have a nice couple of weeks, the fishing is about to turn on, and most of the drama on the boards will disappear.

I'm not a party to the transaction but from what I saw that was posted it was a private transaction with the only thing online was the advertisement.

I did send an email to John before I said anything on here. At least an hour before. That post bothered me alot. I believe it goes against what this site stands for. I didn't start this post to trash someone, I merely stated it was wrong. If you took it that way then maybe you should go back and review it. It was pretty generic...on purpose.

I have been told before to keep stuff off the board...and have. But a MODERATOR took the liberty of making this a sticky post which is part of what I have a problem with the post. The persons involved put personal feelings before the good of the site which I really think is wrong.

I'm not going to stick up for Mike, but want to say one thing here. Last year when I moved I got myself into some pretty big money problems which I'm just starting to dig myself out of. Because of this I had to pass up a few things which I had said I was going to do. Oh well so is the world...All I'm trying to say is sometimes people find themselves in a jam...chit happens. Sometimes too much to often. Maybe he forgot but got himself into a money problem similar to me. If you ever get yourself in those shoes where you don't know how you're going to get money to afford new shoes for your kid, to buy groceries next week, or to pay for simple things in life, you'd know what I was talking about.

I think we all learned something from a thread somewhere else at the end of December...Maybe some more than most. I just think this could have been handled differently and made the post to say that I thought it was wrong.

Not too put words in WeeWee's mouth, but I'd venture a guess most of us would be more than willing to work something out as long as the other party was communicating and being honest. There's no reason the guy couldn't just give the freakin reel back.

I happened to sell a reel to a friend last fall...who guess what...still owes me the 120 bucks. In this case he was honest and told me of his money problems so I agreed to wait till spring. Good thing I know where he fishes :lossinit:

I for one do not have the luxury of reading my personal e-mails all day long or spending significant time following the threads until I get home and if I have a meeting to go to sometimes e-mails are not seen to the end of the NEXT day. As for that particular incident, some PMs have been made and calls will go out tonight. It will be handled.

Scott - not to stir up a debate or start a match here but sometimes maybe even usually these days you call me first - it used to not be like that at all :wave: :huh: :D (notice smileys :smokin: )

As generic as you thought it was I new what it was before Ben even posted here. It was not hard to figure out. Maybe you should have sent Ben a pm, with some legal advice as to how he could handle it better, or more tasteful it you thought it was in bad taste.

I know I did'nt recieve a reported post from you. Do you know which moderator made the sticky? Maybe we were not all in agreement, and one of us would have moved it temporarily off the board and left it for John to review. You have to remember John can't be on the board all day long, therefore he may not get back to you for a couple of hours.

I don't think we need to start another free for all, let's just leave it at that.

I think what Fishweewee did was justified and necessary in this day and age when you don't know who you can and can't trust. Now Chubs is outed and done irreparable damage to his reputation.....job well done as far as I am concerned! These types of people need to be put right out in the open for all to see so this kind of stuff does not happen again! :skulz:

I normally sit back and watch this stuff and keep my opinion to myself but...This is getting under my skin!
I have to say that I firmly believe that Ben did everything he could to solve this problem before resorting to this. I have made a few transactions with him in the past and everything went smooth, he is a stand up guy.
I don't blame him for making a public statement if he did get ripped off....
I want to know about it, and I'm sure others do too. Just MO.

I hope it gets resolved.
