Rhody Saltwater License hearings -who's going?
The next meeting for the Recreational License Subcommittee is scheduled for Thursday, November 29 at 6:30 at the Coastal Institute, URI Bay Campus, Narragansett Rho Dysland...
We need to hear what they have to say but we also need to make sure something akin to a money grab doesn't take place... As mentioned in previous threads (A Recreational Saltwater License for Rhody??? ), there is a strong current from the state government to create a SW license for Rhode Island. Much rumbling has been about this license being purely a grab (by me too from what I've heard  ). I was, uhh "encouraged" to have an open mind on this issue (for some reason someone must think I'm a whacko or something) but I believe I do have an open mind. But I won't be receptive to any money grab... This is an issue which will have MAJOR IMPACT on the way we spend our soul soothing time on the water as well as when we invite our friends and family to enjoy a glimpse into that world. This matter will have far reaching impact on the future of Saltwater Fishing in RHode Island and likely other states as well. So, who's going? I intend to go (need to uhh, inform my wife http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...ilies/nono.gif ) |
I can only try , depends on alot of things . But a money grab doesnt appeal to me either . Ct came up with that once ( so far ) and was shot down ( so far ) . If RI gets away with it CT and Mass and Ny cant be too far behind . Not to mention the rest of the coast I havent fished YET ( and plan too ).

Hey Dennis, good to see you around...
Do you have any links to online resources or documents that I can access that we as a group can use to catch up on this issue? Your opinnion would obviously be very well received here but being on the comittee, you may or may not be able to offer an opinion outside of those hearings. |

I'm gonna catch a ride to the hearing with DZ - I'd like to be informed on the issue.
I hope that some of you others will be able to go too - particularly Alliance members like Tattoo, Fish_Eye and Senor Habs, although I don't know if they've got blooberries over there on the mainland... See ya there. |
Then say Hello - I'll be the fat guy with the MV Derby hat... ;)

Sorry John , read the thread then got a call from Fishpart and hung up and forgot to reply. I'm limiting the amount of time I spend on my knee these days. Seeing the ortho guy Dec 20. So anyway , on the days I work I'm pretty much just staying home and off my feet til I see the Dr. . But I'll be at Slipknots that Sat.
