Breakaway clips...
Where can I get a hold of a few. I know M&D's carried them, but I can't locate them on the site. Any other suggestions as to where to procure a handful? :tm:
|
Which size are you looking for? The smaller ones seem hard to come by. I think Cabella's should have both sizes. I ordered some of the larger ones from the fisherman's headquarters and the came within a few days.

Thanks,
30lb clips are what I have used. I'll keep looking around. |
I agree. These are a pain to get. No one seems to sell them in bags more then 10. I suspect the problem is they are made in the UK. We need to get someone here to make them in BULK and quit screwing around with little tiny envelopes with a couple clips in there. This is not rocket science. I am surprised SPRO does not make a clip like this too. Who else in the wire industry can make these?
M&D's had them a couple weeks ago (I ordered a few bags) They were under the swivel link I think but they are gone now..he mentioned to me that they had not shipped in a while. I emailed the breakaway company directly and asked to purchace them in bulk...I have never got a response. (probably don't have internet over there yet :tm: ) You might try the large size gemini clip, you can then them in 100's for $20.00 thru stamina. |
I bought two bags of the 80lb clips at Mike's on Wednesday. He had two bags left (10 count I believe) he had two bags left. I bought a bunch from him in the fall so I am stocked for the next year at least. He said they have been backordered since January and he is trying his best to get them. He is trying for 1000 count bags. I hope they come thru. He is out of the smaller 35 lb. ones. I couldn't think of using anything else again.

me too! I would take 1000 if I could get them at a half way decent price.
|
Yea I need to score in bulk as well. Maybe I'll just stake out Flaptails house :hihi: I did a little research and got mixed reviews. For throwing plugs in the surf it looks like most people use the 35# clips. What are the 80# clips used for? Thanks for any input.
|
The Hook Up in Orleans has 'em hanging on the wall, only in 10 packs tho....
|
I use the 30's on light tackle and the 80's on my big swimmers and jigging the canal. 30's are perfect for plugging the beach with Yo's, etc.

I guess I'm more curious as to whether or not you use the breakaway snaps during daylight hours. |
I have exclusively used the 35# clips. In about 1.5 seasons of use, only one has failed. I use them jigging, plugging, topwater, whatever. The one that failed was attatched to a jig which became attatched to a rock. I have had my leader or my main line break before the clips on all other snags. One of my fishing partners uses the larger ones only. the only reason is he isn't as youngs as I am and has a hard time seeing the small clips... :tm:

I know how he feels! Even with transitions bi=focals I still can't see chit!!!!!! :hihi:

I would think you'd be able to get them right from Nick Meyer on the Breakaway web site
Or maybe Hatteras Outfitters? Nick and Tres are pretty tight (or used to be, at any rate). |
Exactly Luds48.
|
Hatteras Jack Inc. does have them. Ryan Had them at the MSBA show, I talked to him and he said he could get them in bulk if I remember right.
Their Phone number is 252-987-2428 or email them hatterasjack@mindspring.com Ryan Is the Owner |
30#'s get tired, have not seen that in the 80#'s

I stocked up at the MSBA show!
Hatteras Jack had 35's & 80's! |
I have had a few thousand on order from Nick (Breakaway) for over 3 Mo right now and nothing .
They were to have a ship date of 4/1 but that has come and gone. I have a call out to him to find out what is up. when they come in we will have 10 packs and 100 packs |

I know these have been around for a little bit now. I currently use the Breakaway Clips but was wondering if anyone has tried these Norman Speed Clips and if so, what do you think. They're stainless steel too.

I have them in the shop.
We have guys for freshwater that use them but the salt guys like the Breakaway better. |
i like the larger clip an actually wish they made one bigger as they don't get on some jig hooks without some tinkering.
