 Newbie - Terminal Tackle Question

Most of my life I was a freshwater lover, then started boating - now I'm starting to surf cast (south county ri mostly). My local tackle shop says the less terminal tackle the better which I can understand, but is it ok to use a snap with a plug or should I use a leader and knot the plug? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Also some rigs for Bluefish & stripers would be great - I'm used to crappie and smallmouth bass. |

Johnny alot of guys are using the new breakaway clips. They are hard to find, but Mike T sellls them at capecodtackle.com. Or you could go with a duolock. If you tie directly it willbe a pain to change plugs, and you should leave a loop at the eye to allow the plug action.
Go here for the breakaway clips: http://www.capecodtackle.com/Merchan...=05_04_SWIVELS |

 Thanks for the link! :kewl:
