Couldn't belive I saw this happen. I watched a Comorant struggle with a trout at JP Pond, and an hour later it was floating in one of the coves. What a way to go. Cheers to the trout!

BigFish 04-24-2005 08:35 AM

I am all "choked" up! :rotf3:

afterhours 04-24-2005 08:36 AM

that trout deserves the trout medal of honor.

PI guy 04-24-2005 09:13 AM

:laugha: That's great. I wish piping plovers would give that a shot.

Rock Hopper 04-24-2005 10:17 AM

ejk002 04-24-2005 10:41 AM

wow... did you pull the trout out to safety or was he done for

My son and I saw one eating a Winter Flounder the other day when we were in the Barrington River.. the fish was small but a big one for the bird.. a couple of flips and he had it down and he was gone

Christian 04-24-2005 10:43 AM

very awsome.

Wild Picture...

"uffah!!" 04-24-2005 10:59 AM

Almost as good as this one. Talk about eyes bigger than his stomack!

tynan19 04-24-2005 11:10 AM

That baby thinks he is at a buffet.

spinncognito 04-24-2005 11:11 AM

Great pics. I once witnessed a Commorant come up with a 8 inch lobster, only to have a seagull swoop down and snatch it right out of its mouth.

It is good to see that those over-abundant birds, who have no natural enemies, can be defeated by something!

BigFish 04-24-2005 11:13 AM

Man...I got a sudden craving for breast milk! :drool:

That kid better be careful or he will wind up like the comorant! :bl:

"uffah!!" 04-24-2005 11:18 AM

Commorants

Seriously, I think they should open a Hunting Season on those Commorants every couple of years or so. There are just too many of them now. I wonder if they would taste like duck?

BigFish 04-24-2005 11:20 AM

I think they should have open season on..... :sick: nevermind!

I was at Long Pond in plymouth a couple years back... We had caught a decent sized rainbow.. it was sitting on a stringer on the side of the ramp where we were fishing, comorant came up and took it all.. This was not a small fish... The comorant proceeded to start paddling away attempting to swallow it... It was failing pretty bad because of the stringer and the size.... a guy in a boat was lucky enough to net it and extract the fish...

The bird lived, its pretty funny now, but I was pretty pissed at the time.

Raven 04-26-2005 05:51 AM

i saw once....

one of the free range chickens that had
choked on a big ole fence lizard
the lizards rear legs had prevented the chicken from
swallowing his catch
so i left it for the coyotes.....
chicken = zero
lizard = zero
coyote = 2
