Can I paint those nice color fades on the plugs I'm repainting without an airbrush or should I suck it up and get an airbrush. I'm not sure how I would be able to fade colors nicely with just spray paint.

too late! give them the krylon touch, and get them in the water, there are needy fish around. :)

We need a How To Tutorial from some of the rattle can kings. I would like to see how to fade, how to pattern through the mesh, and especially how to make the pearl color!! (Did a search, but not exactly what I wanted and pics were not loaded on new server)

Pearl is doen with Krylon's "Make-It-Pearl" spray paint. To fade colors, just do a couple light coats from a distance and go from light to dark colors :-}
