Split ring pliers

Who has one they actually like, and find that it works well. I find this part of retooling plugs to be a royal pain in the a$$. Maybe I should customize a set of needle nose pliers for this???

I have 2 different sizes of Texas Tackle split ring pliers and they are by far the best I have seen yet! One for larger splits and one for smaller. Belsans Bait and Tackle in Scituate Ma. carries them for about $15.00 each. Or go to the Texas Tackle website and check them out....TexasTackle.com I think. :btu:

The Xuron pliers (various companies seem to distribute them) are the best I've ever found. I have a pair at the shop that we use all the time. They aren't the cheapest, but after customers in the store take them for a test drive I've never seen someone not buy one.

I took a reg. set of stanley plyer's and ground them to shape...a bigger tooth made slipping on a bigger hook so much nicer,,no struggling anymore...longer handle too for better control an ease of opperation.

Xuron pliers is what I have used for years. Work fine for me.

Hi Ross,

I agree with BigFish...

TEXAS TACKLE has the best ones I've seen...

They are much more user friendly than the others I've seen so far...

Get the Flourescent Green Handled ones... they work GREAT!

What is the dif between the Texas Tackle small and large size pliers? What would the size split rings used with each? TIA

BigFish 05-12-2005 04:55 PM

Charleston...naturally the bigger ones are for larger splits and the smaller ones for some of the much more delicate splits that the big pair is just too big for. :uhuh:

I have bought 10+ pairs of split ring pliers over the years. Every time I saw a new design or brand I bought them. I have 3-4 pairs still kicking around somewhere. Then I bought a pair of Xurons. They are so much better than anything else that I have stopped looking at anything else.
