Always liked bucktails, lead heads with Mann's jelly worms, try some rubber in pink, similar to the old salty dogs.Generally, try staying lower in the water column.

Early when the water is cold trout are lethargic and eating worms and shrimp, I like a Mann's strawberry jelly worm or a small twister tail grub clear smoke or amber with some flakes fished on a leadhead. Keep the jig as small as possible and fish it slow.
After the water warms above 60 any of the soft plastic fishies ie. storm shads or fin-s, purple or pink, sometimes chartreuse or white. Or especially at night a 52M Mirrolure Purple Demon. A rattletrap will work too. Let it sink to the bottom and rip it in short quick lifts, letting it sink back to the bottom between each rip. A bucktail or a sting silver both with a squid strip attached and jigged off the bottom. While you're fishing bigger plugs for bass a deciever type teaser will pick up trout if they are around. |
I've got them on Crippled Herring while working below schools of Blues.
