4" storm wildeye shads
These work AWESOME!!!!!! Striped bass of all size love these. I picked up some 6" storm wildeye shads, but haven't tried them just yet. Has anyone used this bigger ones? What were your results?
|
Love the storms.
and at about $2.50 a pack, you can't go wrong. Feed em to the blooz! |
:whackin: Now keep it to yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
I thought bigger(6") = bigger fish but I have caught 10 to 12" schoolies on the 6" size and keepers on the 4". Of course theres also been those days when the bass are gorging themselves on bait and won't tough them. Then there is the bluefish............... |
th "bigger bait = bigger fish" theory dos hold some truth. The exception would be when the fish get "frenzied" on one particular type of bait.
That would be the main reason for having variety in your tackle box. I've had schoolies that could barely fit the 6 inch storms into their mouth have the entire thing in their mouth. I had the hardest time just getting the thing out, let alone unhooking it. They do work, but then there's the bloofish to contend with as well. What I hate is that right after you put a fresh storm or sluggo on, you get a blue that gives you back a cigar butt for a lure. (They never seem to hit the older lures, just the new ones.) |
I noticed tons of smaller striped bass are hitting the 4". Some are so small it's funny. I noticed that at my favorite fishing spot the striped bass will hits these 4" storms at high and low tides. Which is awesome :) Tons of small fish, but no keepers. Should I relocate or keep with this spot?

its time they start making them out of something else besides plasitic. It is against the federal law to dispose of plastic in the water regardless where you fish. Yet over ONE BILLION plastic fish are made each year.
They do work though. :rollem: |
storm shads=sick nasty
i have loved them since the 1st year they came out and the tails would randomly fall off. |
I noticed after a few schoolies bite a storm, it normally starts coming apart. It's not made very well.
|
But they do work well.

You can either superglue them back together or melt them and they are as good as new. I got a couple of 9 inchers that need surgery surgery tonight after yesterday :devil2: . |
Storm Shads are the Great Equalizer - they can make sharpies out of almost anyone :hihi:

We troll the 9" storm, work great till the bluefish show up :bl:
|
Thanks for all the replies :)
I'm fishing from shore :) I will keep posting my results with these storms. I'm going try my luck with the 6", and see what happens. |
i was given one by a gent at the canal a few years ago and now i never leave home without em. 4" or 6" are both great the big guys work pretty good but i have a hard time spending 6-8 bucks a pop on them. Ive bought 3 of them and 2 were chopped on the first cast, did manage one good bass on the third but the next cast it was chopped again. Gotta agree with john r. they can make a sharpie outta anyone. I usually give them to kids when i see em fishing in an unproductive way, makes me feel bad if i keep hooking up and a kid near me isnt.
|
They do work well. :uhuh:
The only bad thing I can say about them (other than they get chopped) is that the little guys seem to inhale them. |
I picked up the 9 inch storms at Decathalon Sports for about $5.00 each.
|
These storms work all year for striped bass? I normally use them in the spring only.

I guess bluefish kill them :bl: When the bluefish come in you can just tos a hook out there. You don't need storms or bait. :scream: |
later in the summer when theyres baby herring around and peanuts theyll kill even more.
|
just don't drop them in the dirt they will pick up the color :o
|
Take a look at the Tsunami product as well, at least as durable and it might fish better. Cheaper in some cases too.

storm shads=cheatin' :humpty:
|
I'm so hooked! I don't have to chunk anymore! It seems that they work for me on spots that have structures, pilings, or abundents. Now, I need the pink color.
|
storms
:jump1: use alot of 4'' storms.try using latter after scoolies not arround as much, schoolies inhale them and alot are hooked deep or through roof of mouth near eye socket.have used 6'' storms and an amazed how some very small bass can get them in ther mouths.they are a great lure and they cast so sweet,as john says they make it easy on us.
|
I'm going fishing today. I will be using 4" and 6" storms :) I will post my results here :)
:ss: |
I think that the Tsunami shads are better and the 9" ones are cheaper than the storms.
|
I picked up some more 4" storms. $2.95 per pack of six. Not bad. They don't carry the ones you mentioned. All bait stores jack their prices up, so I stuck with the storms. I also have a pack of "6 storms I will try.
