Wish they didn`t have the name so big on the front but heard they were an awesome product....cheapest place to buy would be helpful to.

Depends - if you could only have one, get the EVO 2 as you can layer underneath for warmth. If you can get two, it's nice having the hurricane jacket in the fall. Nice to be toasty when everyone else is freezing their noots off :hihi:

Evo II.... and then go out and buy a black diamond sou'wester for the rain. :D

The Hurricane is bullet proof - but you have to special order the hood. I'm not sure where they stand with hood availability.

since your on the subject (and thankyou) if you wear an extra large size

is it your reccommendation to buy a 2 x large to allow room for underneath
clothing? for the evo2....
i generate allot of heat but cant stand the cold...
especially 41 degrees and raw....which litterally kills me....like the weather were presently having...:doh:

Nights like tonight, the Evo ain't getting it done for %$%$%$%$, even with layers underneath. This be Hurricane weather. Two hot showers later and I'm still freezing me ass off.

You can order any size you want to layer up but be warned: if the neck and wrist seals are loose, then you may get water intrusion, which defeats the purpose of these jackets. If you don't wade deep or take many dunkings, go for it. If you do, stick with the a more true fit for the Evo 2, and get a Rampage top instead of the Hurricane so you won't have to worry about water intrusion- no neoprene seals on the Rampage, but it comes with a removeable hood.

The hoods for the Evo and Hurricane are nice and do keep you warm, but I wish there was a small hole(s) in the mouth area. If you walk along way, the condensation builds up inside and cools off, chilling your lips. At least in my experience. Tcuking the lower part beneath the chin makes it too tight, even with the back unzipped.

It all depends on your toleration of temps, but I would have to say the Evo II is the most versitile. I have an older model and it holds up well all year. I have been out every night this week for hours and im dry and warm.

Grundens Brig 38, had one for over 20 years now and it still doesn't leak. It's a pull over with hood, I have been out each night this week and last night was just horrible and came home bone dry. New models have neoprene cuff and you wear a belt around your waist ( as you should anyway). If they are good enough for Alaskan King crab fisherman they are good enough for me. Available at Sandwich Ship supply and Cape Fisherman Supply in Chatham. It's a heavy windproof and waterproof top made for commercial fishing use, no hype just fact. It's a real fishermans essential piece of outerwear. Around 60.00 bucks. They run big.

I use a thin kayak jacket with rubber gaskets on the sleeves and neck with the pullover Grundens over that and a belt. I usually fish in water up to my waist with big breakers and I stay pretty dry all the time. The Aquaskins is just too pricey besides the fact my buddy is on his second one and that one continues too leak on him too.

I would get the EVO2 you can wear it all season. I wear it from April to November, you just need to layer. If you buy the Hurricane you can only wear it spring and fall, in the summer you will sweat your ass off.

I'm not sure there is a single do-it-all jacket.

I'm pretty happy with the Rampage, never get any water up the sleeves and the hood really keeps the wind out. The zipper neck may not be water tight, but it's a reasonable trade-off as it allows you to vent and not over-heat if it's warmer...

It's too much for the summer though, in this wind and wet cold, I'm not sure I'd want layers, give me something bombproof.

Best underwear for waders & drytops
 

Underarmor, or any major brand of dry-weave breathable undergarments works great for fishing, esp. in warm weather and you don't want your sweaty skin sticking to the waders, etc. Sweat and the oils and salts can clog the pores of the waders/tops. Wicks away sweat and keeps you cool.

But I did find that #^&#^&#^&#^&'s had cheaper version. I think joggers wear them. They were $15 a shirt. The tag said it wick's away moisture......and it DOES.
I used it in place of long johns this winter icefishing and the shirt is awesome.
