Bird ID????
Anyone know what kind of bird this little guy is???
|
It could be a juvenile loon. That would be my guess.
|
based on what i can see
and i can't see the feet,,,,its called "Brunnichs Murre" and the plumage is turning from winter to summer... from the family Alcidae also called
Alcids. A duck like sea bird with stubby necks ...having a buzzy flight and straddle legged look in flight. the identifying marks are the white stripe behind its beak.... and the plumage change on its neck. thats my guess |
I'd say it's a Thick-Billed Murre. They winter at sea off the NE coast and could have likely been blown onshore during the gale last week.
