I'm putting together a powerpoint presentation for a meeting with a big customer on Friday, and it is pretty boring.

Does anyone have any tips, themes, pictures, quips, icebreakers, or whatever to help me jazz this thing up a little?

Do a google search for "powerpoint templates"....you'll get a TON of template sites and ideas.....good luck.

Also, DON'T read from the slides....just use them as a guide when you speak.......just my $0.02 worth.

Agree...Make sure the audience is focused on you and not reading a slide as you speak.

Use the office online clipart or dramatic pictures to jazz up plain slides or tweak emotions.

Ensure every slide makes a clear and valuable statement.

Don't be afraid to use humor.

Even if it's a dry topic, like retail trends in dried perch roe, find what's important to the listener and be enthusiastic about it.

One other thing I do that really seems to work......

Use other medias besides just PowerPoint......my favorite is a white board, becuase it "invites" interaction on behalf of the audience, and makes you spontaneus...it releases the "formality" of the presentation...it will turn a one-dimensional monologue presentation into an interactive working session.....once that happens, you'll really develop a close working relationship with them.

You don't know how close you are... :D

To pat myself on the back, I am a good presenter, and I am very experienced. This is about the 10th presentation I have given to this executive group, and I am just looking to change it up a bit.

Start by asking them what their expectations are for the presentation....write them down on the board, and then make sure you hit on each area during your presentation....then at the end, confirm with them that their expectations were met.

People love it when they are listened to..... :wiggle:

How about holding the meeting in a non-traditional place...??

the meeting is in the galley of a fishing boat in seattle, so we are definatley on the same page there...

basically its a general company overview for those who are new, and then I will explain to them why i am going to raise thier price, and then finish off with some new product ideas for them to buy.

Wanna have a really eye opening experience? But it might take some guts on your part........why not have the people who are not new present to the new people who your company is? You might learn a great deal as to how your client views your company......just a thought.
