#$@%$#!! Cell phones!!!!

Well, I'm 100 yards out on a rock last night, just Canalman and I slinging snakes and enjoying the full moon. Dave gets on large and I walk over to help him, falling on my arse on my way. I hear drag going ZZZZZZZZZZ, then he's got her in the rocks.......snap...the line goes limp......Now it's dead silence, neither of us have anything to say as we're in awe over such a great loss...Then all of a sudden...My cell phone rings(I never take the damn thing with me)...I reach for it swiftly and to no avail....It falls in the damn drink, just a small puddle, so I get back to the truck and dry it out on the heater, the phone is acting kinda funny so I say, No problem, It's under warranty, they'll never know it got dunked....WRONG...The friggin' phone has a moisture indicator...I got bagged....Well. it is still working for now, until the salt eats it up...LOL
Sorry, no pics!!!

2 yrs ago I was launching my rig in Pt. Jude and I dropped the cell into the pond.....only in 1 foot of H2O, so I picked it up....dead as can be. Bring it to the dealer and they open it up and everyone laughs as a pint of water pours out of the phone......cost me plenty to buy a new phone.
:wall:

OK, here's a rant on sort of the same subject...............
Why in hell, do these things cost so much to replace if you don't buy them with a contract? They're all pieces of chit cheapo electronics with half rate technology that I know they can offer better service for less money. There's no excuse for provided service that works fine one minute then cuts out the next. Where would other tech based industries be if they offered service like this?
Why in hell do you need a contract? I don't have a contract for my landline phone. Hey, here's an idea.............if someone doesn't pay their bill...........shut it off!!!!!!!!!!

There's a lot more, but I'm tired.

I keep a cell phone for emergencies only and rarely ever use it. So I went with tracphone and have been with them for a year and a half, phone cost me $39.99, it cost me about $150.00 per year, no contract and mine is the only phone on the boat that still has a signal 10 miles out to sea. I'm happy :walk:

On the Back Beaches and the Race, it's always the '60s for me. That's my "Happy Time and Place". No! I don't mean dope either!

BigFish 06-22-2005 04:29 PM

Thank God 95% of the time on the back beaches we don't get a signal anyway! :call: :rocketem:
