paint peeling on plastic plugs

The finish on some of these new plastic plugs are really nice. But they peel off in quick order under fishing pressure and look like hell. They seem to be less productive when the paint is half gone compared to a new one. Instead of re-painting I zip-stripped and scraped one bare with a pocket knife. Now it is clearish. It looks pretty good with no paint. I am going to try it. Nothing to chip off. I gluded on some new eyes and some new hooks and it is ready for action. Has anyone ever fished a naked plug? (no paint)

Ahhhhh,

I've been told - and i agree that stripping them can be killer. you can then also color them with a marker......this gives them a tint of color, but they are still transparent.

I do it on bombers and yozuri's
