Gas Tank Estimation
My friend recently purchased a 1999 21 Grady White, cuddy version. He's convinced I know more about boats than he does so he is waiting for me to take her out. We discussed all the requirements; stickers, gps, anchor, rope, safety gear, etc... in prep for a trip friday (weather permitting).
When I asked tonite if there was enough gas for a couple hour trip, he said he doesn't know. He states that there isn't a gas gauge on the boat, he's looked top to bottom. If this is true, how does one estimate/figure out how much gas remains? Silly question I know but am curious iif anyone has a method or thinks my friend doesn't know where to look. Any help/ideas are appreciated before this friday morning. |
fill it up full, then run it till it's empty.
whears the tank?any way to measure it? whats it got for power/gauges? 1999 year,,,,,, soooo,,, chances are it's digital all in one gauge, with lcd bars to show fuel level. i bet he's not looking in the right place. |
Look under the floorboards. Maybe an inspection port to view a guage mounted on top of the tank?

Well, the gas gauge was part of a multi function lcd. And let me tell you, what a morning. Left North River, Scituate in pea soup fog and it never cleared thru the morning. We fished from 4th cliff down to Brant Rock, most fish were in 50-55' of water. A mix of schoolie bass and snapper blues. Fun day but he has alot to learn.
Thanks for the info guys. |
