1/4 of a million miles with no fluid change... what.. ya want it ta last forever? ;) Sucks Dave, but, ya got 3 choices, 1.) have it rebuilt (about 12 hundred for an AOD) 2.) junkyard tranny, live dangerous, take chances, or 3.) bite the bullit, get a new one, some great deals to be had on '05 trucks Dave, and you need a monthly payment ta keep ya focused at work ! ;) :laugha: :scatter:

Good Luck with whatever ya do, you need a ride under your butt, pronto, tho.

vineyardblues 07-01-2005 07:38 AM

Gee I have an idea ??

Sell some plugs :) YOU ONLY HAVE 20K OF THEM. If you sell them for $2.00 dollars each you will be able to get yer self a new ford!

Sorry to hear it. Have to bite the bullet and get it fixed. Summer is to short. Know how you feel went to get sticker on my truck and ball joints are junk. Reject sticker. F-150 4x4 has a light duty front end and you can't replace the top ball joints need to replace the whole arm with the ball joint on it and need new bolts because they are frozen and need to be cut off. Have no idea what this will cost. I hate vehicles but need truck to tow boat. Bad timing I am on vacation too and comm. starts week after next. Looks like I will be fishing to pay for ball joints and labor. Paul

well frig the truck it has 286,000 miles and it aint gettin a penny more. runs great and burns no oil, i aint gut time to be down so Im buying a ********* so you all wont know what im driving now  :bshake: :grins:

I know what ya mean. I took the wifes blazer in for a sticker to find out it needs ball joints. They said may as well replace them all when it is apart. Worst part is that they can't do it until next week. Good thing she doesn't travel far from home.

Just did tie rod end (1) rest were OK :D, plus all ball joints on the 150... the kicker was, when my buddy had it apart, "uh, Karl, would you come look at your rotors?"
WOW.. insides were toast, "OK, hurt me some more", then did the front end alignment.. just ordered shocks and polyurethane bushing set for rear leaves, got to get rid of the bed spring squeak sound... 90K, so I ain't really bitching, I know where it's been  and I've gotten off relatively easy..... so far... got to keep it for several more years, so I don't mind putting some $ in.... fer now.... hmmm... Dave got a 150 with a slippery tranny and a good runner (I can vouch for that)... BBJ got a 250 with a oil gasper... sounds like somebody should grab both, and come out with one usable sled....... just a thought.
