Need help
 

Hi, I recently got a repower johnson 150 v6 1988 and had to buy a new tach gauge the old one was not compatible. anyway bought a new teleflex gauge installed it all wires got good contact. It seems to only read rpms in neutral i give it gas the rpms go up , But when i go into gear nothing it stays at 1000 does anyone have any idea whats happening im going crazy. Thanks for any info.
