freak I have trolled that round nose very successfully before doing that, set it up the way I told you. Works pisser

Tried trolling one of my big jointed surfsters last week Mike....and it swam awesome just the way you want....but the hook swing caused by the additional speed began wearing on the plug at a rapid rate......it swam awesome though! :btu:

How about a big 9" storm ? Their heavy, will get down quick, and are herring shaped...

The 9" storms are money. Great action, but you need the ones with the deisel hook in them!

Definitely not with a surfster lip, thats strictly topwater.
Goo Goo eye, would be the correct plug, in maple .With the right belly weight you can make one that will be almost perfectly neutral or slightly negative in buoyancy.

Bassmaster makes a short fat pike that might fit the bill. I have trolled these and they are effective. I have not 3-wayed a plug though. As always, your mileage may vary.
