LL bean breathables

Anyone else here that got those breathable bean waders that were on sale have any leaking??? Mine have been leaking where the breathable material meets with the neoprene foot material and in the crotch. Havent had em for more then a few months, have been using them a bit though 4-7 nights a week.

Chef:
2 of my friends have had the bean breathables for a couple of years. They both are on their 3rd pair each. They both have leaked in the same place you mentioned. SEND EM BACK. it is a known defect.

ALready talked to them , they said they havent had a problem with em . Sending me a new pair that will be here thursday anyway, with a return postage. Great customer service, no hassle at all, dont even have to be without waders for a day.

Oh man get the SIMMS G3s, I have worn mine now since mid may 7 nights a week, just like the day I baught them!!

Chef-

Last spring I bought a pair of the LL Bean Gore Tex "Wicked Tough" waders at $329.00 and between then and this spring I went through 4 pairs – all but one leaked at the wader/neoprene foot seam. And I do not fish 4-7 days per week.

While they replaced all pairs with no questions asked via 2-day mail, I had had it with those waders and this spring I bought a pair of the Simms G-3’s. No problems yet.

I said this before but I think the problem is where the waders are manufactured.

As of 2003/2004, LL Bean no longer made their waders in the USA. They are made overseas. That explained the drop in price from their old Gore Tex waders (the Kevlar ones) to these "Wicked Tough" ones. I definitely think it explains the leaking problems.

LL Bean may have saved money but the quality went way down.

I think only Simms is left of the major wader-companies making waders in the USA.

The LL Bean warranty/customer service is second to none though.

Joe

At $420+ dollars...no thanks. That's way beyond what I can shell out.

WHats the deal with warranty/customer service at simms?

eelman 08-16-2005 04:38 PM

you buy two pairs of waders at $199 a pop, they leak in a week, now you have to wait for another pair, they leak in a week, now you have to wait again, you have spent $400 already, next year you try brAND X they leak by the end of the season, now you have spent $600 and your still returning waders every few weks, but, you like that because they replace them and what the heck its only a week without waders? Not me I say buy a pair and be done with it for $425...Simms warrenties them for a year and fixes anything the first time for free, there made so well you wont have a problem anyway, they also take them at the end of the fishing season and clean, check and go over them with a fine tooth comb for $30 bucks, these waders are awesome!

I do not work for simms nor do I have anything to gain exept pass along one hell of a product, I have never worn anything close to these and there shoes are the best you ever put on your feet!

Get simms and be done! and worry about fishing, not leaks!

I bought the LL bean waders that were on sale and they leaked. I called LL bean and sent them back because I did not like the boot foot waders. I got the pair of waders that have the integrated boot foot and those waders are GREAT! I have not had a problem with them so far and they actually fit me (6'6'' 300lbs).

i agree, my boot foot waders from ll bean have been great. very comfortable.

YUP, I have a a pair with the boots and stocking foot...... No problems so far. I only live 20 minutes from beans so when they leak I will bring them back..... Get a free pair every 2 or 3 years and I bought them for $100 each. The boot foot ones I am on my second year and the stocking foot ones are new this year.
