Doin' the Ditch

I fish the canal maybe 2 or 3 times a year. But with only modest (or worse) success. Hit the slack today at 5:15 at the east end. Saw a few fish breaking about half-way out, put I couldn't reach them. They were there for about 10 minutes then gone.

I don't want anyone to burn any spots, but can I get some advice about times, techniques, and tackle to increase my success rate? I tossed eels (yes it was day time), swimmers, polaris, and tin...but not a sniff. :faga:

Those fish on top were pretty finiky this weekend. I would also suggest watching the people who are successfull. Just see how they work and what make them catch.
