Don't bother before he goes. He'll have absolutely no advantage over anyone else.

Its not so much what the military teaches you,the basics are the basics. Its HOW the military teaches you.

Trust me I know.I taught markmanship for 4yrs in the military. An instructor loves nothing more than to bust someone's a$$ who THINKS he knows what he's doing.

Dave, there is a safe end and a dangerous end.

You don't point the dangerous end towards yourself, your buddies, or the bottom of a boat.

Other than that they will teach him everything he needs to know. I bet Basswipe has had the occasion to give special lessons on where not to point the dangerous end.

Best of luck to your son Dave...

fishaholic18 08-26-2005 11:02 AM

OK, thanks.
Guess they would teach him.

Dave your better off, because if he picks up a bad habit it would be harder to break. My brother inlaw was in the 82nd Air Assault, and he could shoot the pants off me..yu

Good luck to your son, what branch is he going into...
