Blocked ROW's
So what would it take to get blocked ROW's unblocked. Legaly what would have to happen.
Anyone know? |
For Quonnie you need to get the CRMC involved, at least to get the fence and pots removed from the the wall. That is state owned.
Many other other ROWs are deeded by town, which you'd need to work with city hall and DEM. |
I believe Exlax is sold over the counter.
:rotf3: |
For my first course of action I would contact the Coastal Resource Management Council http://www.crmc.state.ri.us/ They are the keepers of the ROWS and would be the first government organization to get involved on ROW issues. Beyond that I don't really know where to go, but someone at CRMC could probably direct you there.

There may be other inititaves at work here already to address a specific blocked access. Starting another access war could impede the other efforts. Hopefully I can get some answers soon...

Blocked ROW's
Is there a list somewhere that names or shows were all the ROW's are???
How can a person find out where there are ROW's??? |
There is a publication available that lists EVERY ROW in RI. The only place that I have seen it for sale is at Quaker Lane.
|
JFugulo...
send me a PM or email through the site... I'll put you intouch with someone at CRMC.... |
RISAA also has an Access Committee which has been pretty effective and they carry some weight on RI issues - I'll talk to Bob Moeller at tonight's meeting to see what's going on.
I haven't fished Q in many moons but I figure we either hang together on access problems or we'll end up hanging alone. |

Well said, this is probably the single most important issue we as a group of individual fishermen must learn to understand. As a rule fishermen are very independent, if we don't get together on the access issue in particular we lose.. |
I agree also, however I think it needs to be clearly stated/known that such groups are representing a large number of anglers, not just a few. While I think dividing and conquering isnt the right move, making sure they know lots of people are concerned from lots of different groups. just my humble 0.02
|
All it would really take is a good lawyer, working pro bono, to file suit on behalf of the citizens of RI against those illegally blocking the ROW. You can work "behind the scenes" all you want, with groups representing thousands of anglers. Several winning lawsuits and supoenas served on those unwilling to clear what they have obstructed will get the offenders attention much quicker, when they have to lay out their own CA$H to defend their actions.

While i can understand people want to keep certain access spots low key, is it that big a deal to help someone out who maybe only fishes a certain spot a a handful of times a year and just wants to know if there are any PUBLIC access spots so i dont get arrested or harrased by the locals? some of you seem a little selfish and have the attitude of hey, I know were the access spots are and thats all that matters so screw you. ONE angler who asks for a little advice as to not get in trouble with the law and to maybe SAVE some spots by getting there legally is still denied by some. Now Eben, you had NO problem with the extreme spot burning in OTW this month wich will be read by thousands...what is the difference here? And its ONE guy versus thousands knowing! I know i didnt state it but i was just looking for a PM responce to keep it low key. Thanks to the few good folks who ansered my question via PM wich was nice. Thats all i wanted...to find out access and save my ass and save the spot as to not make it any worse for others. Or just dont help me out and i'll go trek through someones yard by mistake thinking it might be the ROW and get it closed down for everyone. What makes more sense?
|
skip i didnt have a problem until i read it. after i read it i had many problems with it.

send me a pm when you plan on going and i will hapily show you the ropes down there if our outings overlap. |
Quonnie is FAR from a low key spot, since being blown up by the local B&T. Its not a quite spot, and in the face of a serious loss of entry, Id think keeping it "low" would be more of detriment. I think it imperiative that access to that area be restored, and am surprised it has remained blocked for 3+ years.
It ought to be on RISSA's high priority list and RI anglers should be kept informed on any status to its regard. |
krispy if you want it quiet, then why do you want the ROW's open???
|
huh??

Krispy - there is an initiative supposedly happening about there. When something becomes more concrete, like a plan, that's when it should get its due. But it would be premature to shoot off in all directions until its time to shoot off... I've been avoiding that place for the most part... |
What I was trying to say was, keeping it low key is not worth losing the ROW. Keeping the ROW will require angler awareness to the situation. Quonnie is well known, theres no keeping it quiet anyway.
John, I understand. Ive been to the hard side just a few times this year :( |
