Treble Hook Sizes & Weights

I'm curious, do most of you determine the size treble hook you put on certain plugs by the size (dimensions) of the hook or by the weight of the hook, or both?

For example, I bought some 2/0 VMC 6X (#8527) trebles to replace the regular 4X size 3/0 trebles on some bigger plugs. The 6X hook is heavier than the 4x but the 3/0 hook is still alot bigger (more than I thought). The 4X VMC and 6X VMC are about the same size, except for the weight. I'm a bit hesitant to replace the 3/0 with the 2/0, but I'm gonna try it.

There are so many variables to consider. Weight is definately one of them. You'll most likely have to test out different hooks on each size and type of plug. The differences in weight can definately effect the action and how deep the plug swims. I personally like to use the biggest hooks I can without compromising the action of the plug. You need to decide how you want each plug to swim. I also don't like when the hooks foul on my plugs. So that plays a role in what size hooks I use too.
