Fishing Lines

Whats your favorite fishing line , And what do you think is best for casting and durability.

NIB 10-10-2005 06:23 AM

I like fireline 20 lb on the sand an 30lb on the rocks.Yea it gets fluffy but i still haVn't found anything that comes close abrasion wise.Cast's good enough for me.I have tried Power pro an tuff line an whiplash braids.Lost a few real good fish one the whiplash.Power pro is funny some times good sometimes mystery problems plus not as good abraision wise.have used it from 30lb to 80lb.The tuff line is new on a reel i used it some in the spring pencil poppin. 50lb doesn't cast as well IMO as the 30 fireline.

fishaholic18 10-10-2005 06:39 AM

PP 50#

JoeP 10-10-2005 07:47 AM

I've been using Power Pro, 30LB's to 50LB's, for a few years now and have had no problems.

eelman 10-10-2005 07:49 AM

Ande Backcountry...............

Saltheart 10-10-2005 07:50 AM

Cortland Spectron. Just for conventionals though. Not good on spinners.

choggieman 10-10-2005 07:51 AM

Whiplash, oh please bring it back berkely!

TheRattBoy 10-10-2005 08:06 AM

65 # Whiplash , although my stash is getting low...

The Iceman 6 10-10-2005 08:07 AM

20/30 Fire

reelecstasy 10-10-2005 08:58 AM

30# on the small stick and 50# pp on everything else. As far as abrasion I use a 3' leader of 30# flouro......

snake slinger 10-10-2005 09:04 AM

20lb big game but when i can get my hands on some back country that may change

MAC 10-10-2005 09:15 AM

Whiplash 30 and 65. I ran out of both though :bc:

kippy 10-10-2005 09:41 AM

20 and 30# fireline, very durable.

fishweewee 10-10-2005 09:54 AM

i like wiplash, its smooth, casts well, i dont think it is as abbrasion resistant as others, but over all its good things outweigh its one not really bad thing. i think ive been fishing 50 and its very nice.
i like how its white too.

doc 10-10-2005 11:10 AM

doc

i started using the power pro 30lb a month ago...mixed feelings about it...sometimes those twists and loops have driven me insane, the abrasions have cost me both plugs and fish, and it is expensive...yet, the fact that i can cast a mile keeps me using it...

libassboy 10-10-2005 12:15 PM

PP 30 in yellow for most occasions, keep an extra spool of 50 green fer heavy rocks/current.

ReelChitty 10-10-2005 12:20 PM

I use Yozuri Hybrid 20lbs to 25lbs Love the stuff and never had any problems with it.

Rappin Mikey 10-10-2005 02:56 PM

40# PP here. I like it green because it matches my eyes.

Skip N 10-10-2005 03:00 PM

15lb Yozuri Hybrid...Good stuff

tattoobob 10-10-2005 03:21 PM

I use mainly Triline Big Game in 20 pound test
2 of my reels have power pro on them and I don't love it

I use a 3 to 4 foot 50 pound mono leader

Mike P 10-10-2005 03:23 PM

For jigging, 50# Power Pro on a Newell P-220F. Go together like PB & J.

Spin jigging, I like 30# Fireline on a Penn 706.

For plugging, I'm more and more moving back to mono. 20# Big Game for spinning, 25# for conventionals in the Canal.

Gotta find me some of that Ande Backcountry before it disappears, tho ;)

pops 10-10-2005 03:39 PM

I stated offf using 30 lb pp , some 'nests' at first [my fault] respooled in shop tight and worked fine.
had a break off so replaced with 30lb fireline... casts better / smoother and no knot problems [maybe just 20/20 from pp]
the 3o lb fl got caught under my spool during a blitz and broke off SO ,now trying 20lb fireline [shop didnt have 30 fl], it casts a mile with a habs 2 oz popper 2oz hopkins [had a guy say WOW next to me one day casting as far as i could looking for action, he asked how much weight was on the lure ! ] :D

basswipe 10-10-2005 03:45 PM

I use mono.Depends on which reel I'm using but I like Big Game,Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
I'm in the test phase with Ande Backcountry but it seems like good line so far.

JFigliuolo 10-10-2005 03:52 PM

Oh you think whiplash is gone?

I have heard from numerous sources that Whiplash is now Spider stealth. I use the 30 and like it best out of all the braids I've tried.

justplugit 10-10-2005 06:46 PM

Fireline #14 and #30.

Goose 10-10-2005 08:43 PM

30 PP on my 4000 size spinners
50 PP on my VS 150 which gets the lion's share of work
65 PP on my big Nautil and Emblem

17 or 20 sufix tri plus on my conventionals

Notaro 10-10-2005 09:11 PM

baitfishing from the surf- 25 lbs solar x mono and ande/berkley big game supreme in green or light blue for shock leader on convench. 15-20 lbs mono for chunking on the river systems.

30 lbs powerpro or fireline on my 704Z for jigging and plugging on the beaches, and bottomfishing for black seabass and fluke.

20 lbs fireline or 30 lbs powerpro for light tackle.
