Old Striper Lures and Tackle Forum

I have had a request today, and not the first on this subject, about having an Old Lure Forum here on S-B. Whaddya think? I'll ask this here and on the Plug board... And let's say one of the new features coming up will make it nicer too :)

If you all do want it, what do you want it to be?

Thanks!

John

John any thoughts on swapping it with the
" The Bilge - Private Boston Harbor Forum " that forum has been quiet for 3 1/2 months.

I don't know how a forum relates to the cost of running the site, but that one is dead.

bassmaster 10-13-2005 05:27 PM

only if flaptail is a mod
he knows the most about old plugs

TheSpecialist 10-13-2005 05:31 PM

I second Flap, and also think that VB could be an asset there as well.

I think the bilge will serve it's purpose and should stay.

Slingah 10-13-2005 05:34 PM

where is thie "bilge" and how can I see it?

JohnR 10-13-2005 05:35 PM

If we did it, I would be honored if both Flap and VB were moderators on that forum....

Nebe 10-13-2005 06:08 PM

here here!! i agree :D

NIB 10-13-2005 08:32 PM

Cool.

If I remember correctly from last years plugfest isn't AdamR a collector of vintage plugs and the like? His input on such a thing could be valuable if he so desires to participate.

stripercrazy 10-13-2005 10:39 PM

yes

sounds great :btu:

Tattoo 10-14-2005 05:03 AM

Put AdamR on the list of moderators as well.

Karl F 10-14-2005 05:21 AM

Only if you think you really need it, John.
I think it's like the beach buggy forum idea though.... we already cover it, as needed.

Adam R., VB, :kewl: and the Flapper, you got the right mods, if it's a go

vineyardblues 10-14-2005 06:32 AM

Adam R knows more about old lures than me

Take my name off of the list and I defer the nomination to ADAM R in my place. I was honored to be asked but VB and Adam are best suited for the job. Thanks, Flap.

SeaWolf 10-14-2005 08:07 AM

great idea. i also agree on adamr as moderator, if he so chooses.

let me see, it will be a "private" forum where there is an application fee - to join, one classic lure to be given to the moderator? if so, i'll go to tattoo's house and donate one of his hundred or so vintage mambo's to join.

choggieman 10-14-2005 08:18 AM

Tattoo has vintage mambos? I'll trade super rebels for 'em!!!

Squibby17 10-14-2005 08:26 AM

I found a very dead eel under my dads porch a few ago does that count?

Speaking of smell - I keep getting a faint whif of dead eel around the outside of my truck - but not inside. I think somebody not playing nice with my truck when fishing

Raven 10-14-2005 09:21 AM

hire

a hungry dog to find it John....as their nose is 500 times more accurate.

and a dog biscuit (reward) goes a long way.

Raven 10-14-2005 09:33 AM

On the old timer plugs

i think thats a GREAT Idea....with all the inovative plug making
happening here.... and the new quest for the artificial lobster lure...
comes to mind....

it would be a welcomed addition....

BUT Please! and i quote you : And let's say one of the new features

coming up will make it nicer too....

Thats been promised for a LONG, long time....now... the proverbial carrot
at the end of the stick...has withered and dried up by now...

i know your insanely busy....but GET R DONE brother....

i don't know about anyone else - but the suspense is killing me.

Krispy 10-14-2005 09:39 AM

SOL just started a collectors tackle forum. Do we have to follow what they do? Most here are members there, especially in the plug forums.
Half the threads are repeated from members posting the same pics and topics already. Why clutter SB with more barely used foums, when vintage stuff fits nicely within the plug building section

Raven 10-14-2005 10:10 AM

Krispy..................

Just the reading of SOL's user agreement makes me feel
like i'm not only in court with a freakin judge looking over
his reading glasses at me
about to sentence me to years in prison....
it makes me wanna :yak6: :gorez:

i would never want to be a member of such an uptight, puritanical
overdone on censorship, lack of free speech, site like that....

and i know that statement will generate some negative feed-back
but i am speaking .... about care-free freedom and fun.....
a place where ya can kick your shoes off and feel comfortable.
it's like the Clammer ...amusement park where everyone is smiling :)

sure....Everything is copyrighted ....so what!!! if your not selling it
its not illegal...in the final analysis...especially if you can view
it free on the internet....

vineyardblues 10-14-2005 10:20 AM

I would like to see a DOCUMENTARY WITH CATEGORIZED Antique lure page.
I HATE going tru 68 pages to fine a nice pic of a lure :)
I also know that several of the antique collectors who have web pages lurk here and would be more then willing to help out.

I think it would be the cat's meow in the long run!
VB

plus, some sort of id plus value chat,,,, and as CS said horse tradeing :)

Remember it's all for fun

ProfessorM 10-14-2005 11:10 AM

Like this. http://www.shorelinebt.com/id3.html P.

capesams 10-14-2005 11:34 AM

this would also be for:
wood line spools
rods
reels
sand spikes
fish decoys
tackle boxes
old pic's/mag's
bait trap's..etc..etc..etc..

Raven has a point..that other place cut collector's off at the knee's..far to many restrictions to be fun anymore.
