Renouncing My Sox Allegiance!
Done! All set with the Sox...we won last year and now I...just like Theo, can walk away with a clear mind...tired of the BS that goes on in baseball anyway...its gone the way of basketball for me......the only sport left I care about is football......Sox blew it big time letting Theo get away! :nailem:
|
The White Sox are a pretty good team....aren't they? :hidin: Didn't they just win something? :tm:
|
The Sox offered him a contract that would make him one of the highest paid GM's in baseball. Theo was just to freakin greedy. What the hell does he want? Screw him if he wants to be a greedy SOB.
|
with the system the sox have in place, i think that they feel they can plug someone else in with no problem, we'll see.
|
I don't believe it was the money rather the amount of control he would have.
|
BF...You'll be back....Just like last year... :hihi: Or should I say the year they won the series...
|
Good for Theo. He might probably come back someday, when he's old and in his forties :hihi:
But I am disapointed he did not sign.... |
Where does he think he's gonna get a job? Aren't all the GM spots locked up now? Maybe he'll go to AZ and be Josh Byrne's Asst GM!

You will be renouncing your allegiance to the Pats soon enough also!!! |
WTF
Dont know which way I go on this yet....Theo was making $350,000 last year an they offered 1.5 million this year..Not a bad raise in my book...Whats wrong with that??? I know there is more to it than money but WTF?????
|
Control, control, control......he was tired of being Luchino's boy.....he wants to do what GM's do! :lasso:

i'm not a luchino fan, wished he'd of left town.
|
There's open GM positions in L.A. , Philly, and Tampa Bay. He'll land on his feet.
Stupid move by Sox management letting him get a way. It was nothing to do w/ the money...he just wanted to do his job the way every other GM does it (with the exception of Cashman :hihi: ) 3 Post-season Appearances, including one World Series in 3 years....I guess that just isn't good enough  Quote:

How can you say REDSOX 4-SALE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Money is what it's all about, Old John Henry will be cashing out and selling his sole to the devil :af: He did it in Fla and will be doing it in Boston. We shall see a whole new team next year. gone gone and gone. VB ps. sad to see Theo gone but I think he knows more then what the paper prints |

For me, it's all about which 9 guys put on the uniform and play the game every day. Last Xmas, the missus got me an authentic World Series edition home jersey. It has no number on the back. At first I was dissapointed; I was kinda hoping for #34. But now, I'm glad it has no number. For me, it's all about the name on the FRONT. With free angency, ceratainly players come and go. We see different GMs from time to time, and even ownership can change. It's unlikely that the name on the front of the jersey will ever change. |

All of Steinbrenner's 'tude with none of his Benjamins. The Cadillac franchise of the National League and he's turning it into en effin' Yugo :af: |
Luchino should stick to his own job.insted of micro managing the baseball people.
One thing for sure is the next GM will be a puppet for Luchino. :nailem: |
Yup I take back my earlier comment about Theo and it being all about money. Now that the facts are starting to filter out to the puplic it was def a control issue. Theo didnt want Luccino looking over his shoulder all the time.
|
I think the Sox blew it mainly by how, or the manner in which, they offered the money, yeah it was 1.5 eventually, but it started wayyy lower, then got over a mil, then finally hit 1.5. All this after finally winning the series and also while Theo knew they offered 2.5 to Billy in 2002 (even though he ended up joining Oakland), and then Theo got the job for 335-350,000. I agree about the timing of sundays Shanghnessy article wasnt good, and it came totally from Luccino's viewpoint.
|
Not a very smart move on the sox's part. We will have to wait and see how it all plays out but stupid to let him walk in my opinion.

Theo's assistant may have taken over or at least helped in the transition. Bernzy |
I guess we will find out what's happening at 1:00
|
Looks like he just wanted a change. To do what was best for him. Can't fault him or anyone else for that. Does it suck? You bet he will be missed. Could it have been avoided, maybe, but it is done and time to move on. P.

John henry
His hands of fapproach screwed the team ! I am curious to see what happens to the farm system. I hope they dont loose the young players that we heard about and saw this past year.
