4 eyed swimmer...

I've been wondering about this configuration for a while. No weights in it right now. 9" long body, weighs 2.25 ounces. Has a small NJT Lefty lip on it at the moment. I'd like it to swim about 1 - 2 feet below the surface.

Now that is cool :uhuh:

Wow, that's a good idea. Nice job!

Karl F 11-11-2005 11:56 AM

Great! :kewl:
Now, in the frame of the "Fish after Fish" theory... did you try the little guy in front of the big guy? Like the big guy was trying to get a meal ... Just a thought....

pops 11-11-2005 12:03 PM

it x'ed my mind more than once to in line a small plug with 1 treble in the belly as an inline teaser...then do as above , reverse and a longer gap ??

steelhead 11-11-2005 12:27 PM

Just came back from test swim.... First cast got dive bombed by three gulls... No hook ups however :-) Swims a bit arse down in the rear small plug. Will take off trailing treble hook and see if that balances it out. Or I add a bit of lead under the nose of the small plug. Beautiful snakey motion to it!

pbrown 11-11-2005 12:39 PM

Who's the one playing hooky now?

steelhead 11-11-2005 12:43 PM

Plug testing is work :-) 'Specially when you're trying to save your prototype from those d**** gulls!

Lower 11-11-2005 01:48 PM

Nicely done. Cool idea.

steelhead 11-11-2005 03:41 PM

second swim...

Got dive bombed again... :-) Tail swims aligned with the front when it doesn't have the trailing hook. I think I'll do a tail on some very light wire so it looks finished. Tends to swim right on the surface or about 6" below. Next one will be weighted just a bit.

steelhead 11-12-2005 01:02 PM

Little guy in front...

Karl, I'm going to try one like that, too. Not sure how well it might "tow" the bigger one. Probably cast like a rocket tho....

Tagger 11-12-2005 01:43 PM

Great idea John .. :claps:

Nice work .
What are they made of ? Could you use a more boyant wood in the back and keep the hook ?
Just thinking out load .
Keep up the good work . :claps:

Zeno 11-13-2005 04:46 AM

That is cool ! :btu:

steelhead 11-13-2005 10:16 AM

I used a couple pieces of poplar. Maybe cedar for the back? Or leave a bit more wood in the tail to help it float?

NIB 11-13-2005 08:11 PM

Four eyes.
Nice..
