i could use a prayer please

as most of you know, i lost one of my younger brothers last dec. 5th to a car accident. he was only 17. well, last saturday my brother ted woke me up to bring him to the hospital with a banging headache. a cat scan and mri later and he's on his way to boston to have surgery on a brain aneurysm. he's only 31. you could only imagine how i felt driving up there behind that ambulance. it's been 8 days now and he'll be in the icu for up to 3 more weeks. then it's up to year or more in therapy to try to regain his memory, some vision and the ability to read and write again. he's young and strong so he'll get through it o.k. but i'm asking for you guys and gals to call in a favor to the big guy for me. thanks.

Hunan, I have been there

About two summers ago, during an angiogram for a blocked artery an anyersum was found in my 65 year old mother's brain. They said if it burst, she'd be dead before reaching the hospital. They had to clip it before they could deal with the other blockage.

Needles to say, I had lots of concerns about a 65 year old woman who has taken very little care of herself over the years coming out of the operation alive. And when you think about what they had to do, enter her brain, get behind her eye sockets and clip something that could burst at any moment. It was awfully stressful and I lost a lot of sleep in the weeks leading up to it.

She survived the surgery and recovery was slow. She was six weeks or so before she could be on her own. At times, I wondered if she would ever be her old self.

I am thinking of you and your family. There are those of us who have been there, Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hunan, keep talking with the BIG GUY....prayers do get answered. As much as we don't always understand or agree with the end result. They ALL get answered.

I'm not throwing any grey clouds on this, but I had a member of my family drop dead walking to his car on his way to work 2 weeks before his daughter was born. Very sad.
You're a few steps ahead though...so keep positive. He's getting the help he needs and with you and your family's support, he will BEAT this thing. Like stated, they've come a LONG way.

God Bless, and prayers offered -
Bloo . .

ted got moved out of the sicu today into his own private room. he was a little bummed out though because when the doctors told him about it this morning, he thought they said he was going home. he'll be there for maybe another 2 weeks and then it's off to spaulding rehab. it felt good to have a conversation (albeit slow) with him this afternoon over hospital turkey dinner. looks like minus some vision he'll be o.k. my family and i want to thank all of you who added us to your prayer list, you are all wonderful. thank you.

BigFish 11-25-2005 12:18 AM

this brother of mine is unbelievable. he is leaving nemc monday for rehab in braintree. (it's closer for us to visit than spaulding) thay say he'll be there for possibly 2 weeks and then he can come home. :soon: the human brain is an incredible piece of machinery, isn't it? thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, i owe you all a few.
