Turkey Skin
That's right, turkey skin. Turkey skin has become a huge issue in our family in the past few years around Thanksgiving time. Last year, many got mad at my dad for ambushing the turkey before the dinner bell rang and stealing half the skin, stuffing his face with it in the corner of the house. This year, we had Thanksgiving early -- Saturday. Over twenty people descended upon a fair-sized bird when we got the nod that soup was on. Dad happened to be one of the last in line. No skin for Dad. Now he's been going on for days with his conspiracy theory that the skin was hidden or hoarded so that he wouldn't have any. Well, he deserved it, but nobody else thinks that turkey skin is important enough to plot over. The man just cannot get over it and now dislikes everyone in the family even more than before. Does anyone else have family problems based on turkey skin, or are we the only freaks? Ridiculous...

I'm ALL OVER THAT......I always get the neck....even when i was 6 years old. And I peel the hell out of that bird before it even hits the table...:hihi: Not for nothing....But if he's the Dad he gets the Skin....its all about respect...:D |
It's clearly the best part of the bird...but your family does sound a little freakish :uhoh:

LOL,,, nice funny story for a change.... :buds:
Give Dad what he wants, he is in charge correct ? What does he do to a ham ? lol VB |
Crescent rolls....We make about 16 the first 15 disappear in 5 minutes. That last one just sits there. Nobody wants to be the A hole who eats the last one. Then finally , someone eats it and everyone complains!! ..Oh I was going to eat that!!!
Turkey skin , crescent rolls , last piece of pie , etc .....sounds like a normal family to me :) |
Its the old "You snooze, you lose" rule! :bl:

Save the neck for me Clark!

Cresant Rolls
Saltheart,
No one ever born in our household that was afraid of the last roll, or taking the first one. |
Turkey's Neck
Thats because the neck looks like a plug Bigfish. Your probably figuring a way to through wire the stainless and putting hooks on while your eating the neck. Ya not fooling me!

Dad hasn't been in charge for a while. My folks passed off Thanksgiving to my sister over 5 years ago. The man is very vocal, however, and usually gets what he wants, no matter what. But he didn't call dibs or peep until the next day, after he had finalized his theory of our elaborate scheme to defraud him of skin. Heck, it took him quite a bit longer to do all the biblical calculations to deduce that the world was going to end in 1998. If he was wrong about that, how right can he be about the skin? Oh man, I forgot that I hid it all in my other purse! That's gonna smell...

Do you know that most emergency room visits on Thanksgiving are caused by older people eating the skin off the turkey, causing gall bladder attacks from the fat ingested? Believe me, it's true. The fatty skin from any poultry isn't good for anyone, especially the elderly.
