Basic Beginner Lathe Tips
Anyone know of a good thread for info on the
basics of wood turning on a lathe. What chisel to start with, stock (round or square), technique. Just some quick tips for a beginner to practice. Thanks in advance! |
A book I found helpful was "Turning Wood" by Richard Raffan, Taunton Press.
Taunton Press is the publisher of "Fine Woodworking " magazine. Their web site probably offers DVD/videos for beginner and advance turners. I think the Woodcraft store in Woburn also has seminars on turning, check their web site. Sorby tools might also have how to info available for free. |
The Raffan "Turning Wood" video is great. They reference the page of the book as the video moves along. Just watching the way he moves can really help you out.
