that area in when hes int he canoe not fishing is a wildlife preserve. cant fish there, its a protected spawn area of the river.

i had seen a program on this several years ago..not quite as blitzy as this one....this one was much more entertaining...to see.

those fish tend to be absolutely paranoid of the thumping of the boats motor sound and are leaping to safety and are landing in the boat in the process...the speaker was also thumping the boat to get the reaction.
