I use flourocarbon leaders during the worm hatch then go back to the good old 50# mono.Its not that I dont like flouro ,I just hate change.

Am going to try it this season.....we'll see.

im changing to floro this year ,hope it works out? always looking to up my chances of catching fish.

I always use 20# & 30# Seagar depending on the time of year and the size of the bait I'm fishing. In many freshwater applications like the C-rig or in my jerkbait fishing I don't bother, but it might make sense there as well. I just don't fish freshwater all that much anymore, so I don't bother to go for the added expense of stocking lighter tests.

I use TripleFish floro as much as possible. Even for the abrasion qualities alone it's worth it.

I use it on beaches for the most part . I havent gone over completely as Im not 100% sold on it yet . I have had a number of breakoffs that I know wouldnt have happened with mono . Breaks on the leader not at the knot . I also use 50# Ande and 60# Ande in the ditch with mono running line . I will use 30# with braid this year . I voted !

I use 50 lb either Seagar of Tripple Fish.
Tripple Fish is about 1/2 the price when you figure yardage.
as far as I can figure my catch ratio did not incerease much but the quality did improve greatly. ;) :D

Oops voted wrong I have been using the Triplefish in 45 and 50lb.

I have never tried it, but plan to this year. There was a recent article about in The Fisherman.

I used to think it wasn't always so important. Then one spring I was fishin a creek with a friend. We were using the same fly and the same line. But I had fluoro on and he didn't. I had many more fish than he. When I gave him a piece of tippet he too started taking fish. Since then I always use them.

And since the price has come down so much that makes it a better choice too.

I used Flouro leaders exclusively last year. After the experience, the only time I won't use it is when the air temps are below freezing. I fished Jersey on Dec 28 - Jan 2 this winter. It was quite cold, in the teens and twenties at times. I broke off three flouro hi-lo rigs below the top barrel swivel upon casting, and I rarely do that. I am convinced that the flouro gets brittle or something in cold weather, so I suppose I have to vote "sometimes".

I've never used it, mostly 'cause I've always used mono.

However, I bought some flouro leader this year to try out for light tackle applications. I'm also going to give braid a try.

Hey, last year I decided to try circle hooks and while the jury is still out on them (I still gut hooked a few), I missed very few fish on eels.

I'm gonna stick with mono/mono leader for heavy duty eeling.

Tried it (Stren Flouro) at the Ditch. Jigs kept breaking off where the jig knot got bumped on a rock or whatever. Threw it away and never tried flouro again.

i would probably start using it if i fished alot more in the daylight hours. the only time i have used floro was when trolling for stripers from a boat in daytime.

Fluorocarbon Leaders
 

I've switched to 15# Seaguar or Orvis for all fly fishing leaders. The material holds up and the knots hold.

I wouldn't use Vanish fluorocarbon if it were given to me. I had far too many fish break off. I still have about 200 yards of the stuff. It works real well for tying up Christmas trees so they don't fall over.

i once asked a friend of mine a year or two ago who is a professional fisherman. he gets hired for tournaments all over the world. i asked him what does he think of flourocarbon. he said "I heard there is an advantage in hook up ratio and if there is an advantage i want it" although i am not a professional fisherman i want the advantage as well. i used it all last year from my boat and liked the results.

I have not used it, I currently use 50# Big Game for all of my leaders but I have been reading so much about it I decided I better try it this year.

Let's hear some more real experiences like Jaiem where it has increased hook ups in your opinion.

advantage in hook-ups or abration strenth,over the reg maxima

Yes, 20 and 30lb Seagar. I also use the smaller stuff when fly fishing, not only salt but sweet water as well!

Yes, fish with it most the time, even when bottom fishing.

Kinda tricky to keep it attached to braided line, it's a little brittle.
