that it was some kind of pollution that triggered the mutation.

I Caught a Brookie like that in Moosehead Lake about 15 years ago through the ice. It was a short so I didn't keep it.

When I get home I will post a picture of a 5 legged frog I ran accross one afternoon in Alabama.

But from what i understand extra appendages [sp?] is caused by either a bacteria or a parasite, not pollution. But I think that the bacteria or whatever may "bloom" in certain polluted condtions.

It just looks like the area below the jaw was not connected to the forward part of the jaw (freak or damage?) causing it to drop and expose the tongue. Must be a slow media day.
