hey pecker head | on Christmas Day
When you find yourself all warm and comfortable having just eaten a great meal....think about how tough it is for our feather friends out there to survive (except for plovers :) ) and remember to feed the birds. They need beef suet in these temperatures. here's a hanging log
with a series of 1 1/2 holes drilled into it that i stuff with suet for a good winter woodworking project ....or you can buy cages for blocks. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...lickerbird.jpg |
Yellow shafted northeren flicker, female ?
hard to tell, it may be male (black moustache=male) not too clear in that picturehttp://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i4120id.html |
woodpeckers
I think the WP's at my feeders are the most attractive birds.

have mine hanging right outside the kitchen window. better than tv sometimes.

:uhuh: Plus the flying squirrels have something to eat at nite. I think they eat more of my feed than the birds. My fav's are the Carolina Wrens. A pair have been sleeping under my porch roof every winter for years. Every nite I go outside to get wood they are huddled up together in a corner of the porch roof facing the corner. I think they assume I can't see them because they are facing the corner. Kind of funny really.
