Ok, I need some help with this one please
I have a home computer and have DSL tru verizon.
My question is this: My daughter got a wireless laptop for X-Mass.
I guess now I need to get a linksys router switch and ?

Lost after Christmas.

Get a Linksys wireless router and wireless adaptor for your desktop and you'll be in business.

I just setup a Linksys wired router yesterday morning.I also have Verizon DSL and there were some minor settings issues that would not allow the router to connect to the internet.I called Verizon and got the proper settings. If you find after running the setup wizard that you're having the same problem PM me or just call Verizon at 1-800-657-6789.They were very helpful.

Make sure the transmision between pc and router are encrypted.

Linksys makes it real easy!!

All you need is the router if the laptop comes wireless already!

When you set up the ssid (securty) go 128 bites for the encription!

Just buy a linksys or netgear wireless router. Make sure the router has ports you can plug your desktop into and fire up the wireless stuff and you are all set.

The encryption stuff is BS and you dont need it unless you have your SSID broadcast enabled. Just make sure you shut off the SSID broadcast and change the SSID to somthing other than the default.

The problem with hackers is that they can detect you with windows networking because the broadcast is enabled, if they cant detect you they cant hack you.
