TXS. guy's....took some time off an went back to doing something I had done 30 years ago,,sittin with my x-acto knife drawing blood. found all my artist oil's all dried up and brushes hard as rock, but not to be cornered I went to the store[many] to find some new supplies.armed with new paints, brushes, sharp blades and new bi-focals, these came to be...,,,got tuna?

steelhead 01-15-2006 11:21 PM

sportyguy33 01-15-2006 11:50 PM

Capesams
Them Fish Decoys are Way COOL. Sure like to see some you did 30 years ago.

gone fishin 01-15-2006 11:51 PM

How many bandaids did you need??
Fine looking carvings. I think you and Mac should display them at the plugfest coming up soon. :pop: :buds:

numbskull 01-16-2006 10:19 AM

CapeSam (and MAC) that is really neat stuff. I've been contemplating trying the same for years, though the painting part scares me. You guys may have just shamed me into it. I have a book of fish patterns (including a tuna if you're interested CS). I'll try to remember to bring it to the plugfest.

MAC 01-16-2006 10:31 AM

I would be real interested in seeing that book. Then I'll know what to look for. It is hard to find decent pictures to go by. I did mine from a copy of a print. A pattern book sounds really cool.

NIB 01-16-2006 10:38 AM

Make a cast an do em up.I see them little tuna replica's they get a hundy for em.

Blood wood make a great sealer the way it soak's into basswood if only it were a tad more waterproof.......the artist oil's take forever to dry even putting japan drier it...so these may not see the front seat of the truck by the time that roll's around...only time will tell.

Bay Stalker 01-16-2006 05:05 PM

Great carvings!!! You do some killer work!

gone fishin 01-16-2006 05:29 PM

CS - I have used oils before and know just what you are talking about. If they are not dry we will miss them:crying:,Maybe another time:drool:

capesams 01-16-2006 05:55 PM

wife asked if I were selling these...I said no dear,,, just somemore dust collector's...they'll be around for some time to come. their going to be left to my son from his grumpy old dad;)

Jigman 01-18-2006 07:59 AM

Very nice!!! No idea how to even start something like that. Well, besides the part where I cut fingers off :rotf2:

As Alwayse Very Artistic Capsams. You should have a studio on the East side of Providence where middle aged women pay a lot of money for stuff like that!!! pretty :)

RI Popper 01-18-2006 03:15 PM

I mean that in the nicest way. You are an artist my friend, not merely a plug builder.

fishaholic18 01-18-2006 03:37 PM

Amazing as usual Steve.
