I saw the raw footage a long time ago and they really choped up that show........Bummer....But still good, should have been the whole half hour......

Bill L 01-22-2006 09:50 AM

I caught the last 5 min of it, you're right #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, it should've been the whole 1/2 hr

cheferson 01-22-2006 09:50 AM

Sweet:cheers:

eelman 01-22-2006 09:53 AM

They had a horseshoe that night because those were the only two fish caught. Cant get better timing than that!! I am sure it will be repeated later today , catch it then......Now its time to get ready for some chmpionship football!

Joe 01-22-2006 10:15 AM

yeah - pure luck...:poke:
He produced it on cue - one shoot, one take.
Everything aside - you could follow a lot of guys around for three years and not get a better fish.

Joe, I think your taking that out of context.....Its not often that a 40lb fish is caught, let alone the last 5 minutes of a television shoot! Steve even told me he very surprised. But if someone can do it , it would certainly be steve !No doubt the skill was there! No one in the universe can catch a 40 on cue, no one, I think it worked out great! Made for a great show.Steve is the best sluggo fisherman there is, they certainly work! get ready for loads of orders!

eelman 01-22-2006 10:44 AM

BTW..Show is on again at 2:30 this afternnon for those that missed it.FSN Network channel 55 on cox rhode island

Mr. Sandman 01-22-2006 10:54 AM

That was an excellent segment. Nice job....I esp liked those underwater shots by Laptew Productions.

What was that 5 month striper contest they mentioned...sounds interesting anyone know anything more about it?

Joe 01-22-2006 11:18 AM

No slight intended Bill, I was just emphasizing that it was a remarkable catch given the odds of twanging a forty the one night somebody was there to shoot it.
And yes, SRI sluggo sales have been quite strong this winter! It seems a lot of people are using this time to build a cache for the season.

Joe, do you sell the 7/12 inch in the small bulk packs? acually I will go to the site and find out!

Rappin Mikey 01-22-2006 11:28 AM

Great fish, great show. What's the deal W/ that Striper Cup they were talking about?

Mr. Sandman 01-22-2006 11:32 AM

How many sluggos does Steve use each season and where does he purchase them?

yes he does, but they're in packs of 5-6 I believe...

cow tamer 01-22-2006 11:53 AM

Joe,
Greatly appreciated the preview you provided, prior to the show airing.
Too bad they cut Steve's segment short, to make room for the salmon dinks.

Steve usually has 8 to 12 rigged slugs with him each time he goes.If no bluefish, I see him average about 2 per night seems there good for maybe 3 fish each. When they get tore up he will save the hooks and weights and toss the used slug out. So its hard to say how many he uses in a whole season. Needless to say when the blues are thick they dont last and you move in a hurry.Of course you dont slam the fish everynight so you save that way.

During one of the underwater shots, my 2 year old son proclaimed...

"look at that, that's amazing!"

Gotta love it.

It was a great show a little short, I was also fishing RI that night and the fishing was dead slow.(so was the whole fall) I saw them driving back to the cape. Now I really have striper fever "come on May":smokin:

lurch 01-22-2006 02:18 PM

I wish the segment lasted the whole show.

A little scary on those rocks at night.

I took the kids along the Merrimack in my home town and was tempted to make a few casts after that show....
