Has anyone used dacron line as backing for a convental real? I was wondering what the diameter of dacron is compaired to the same test in mono.
thanks

I use dacron line as backing on both conventional and spinning. It provides a nice cushion and nonslip surface for a variey of line types i.e. leadcore, wire and super braid. I have seen a number of the local shops use it on their set-ups as well.

Generally its slightly smaller than mono, but it collapses and lays flat on the reell, so you get a lot more dacron than mono on a reel. IMHO its time is past and you're better off using the much thinner super braids.

I would use it on a plastic spool reel as backing as it makes for a good cushion and would lessen the chance of a spool imploding under pressure. The penn 710 greenie and squidder plastic spool reels come to mind.

Absolutely perfect for backing and a Hell of alot cheeper than super braids.
