Fiberglass question
1 Attachment(s)
I have a question for you guys. I have three options to fill these holes where my kicker bracket was. Should I,
1. plug with a stailnless steel bolt 2. plug with a filler, minor fiberglass repair, cover with name of boat 3. go for the complete repair, match paint and new gelcoat. |
3 fix it the right way
|
you selling anyways.
put bolts in there and tell them thats whear you had a kicker. maybe the new owner wants one too. probably look better than a hacked gelcoat job. |
Use foam core to fill the void, not a wood dowel. (If water gets in the core the wood will swell up and push out on the gelcoat repair)
Chit, just saw FF's reply. If you're selling, just goop them bolts good and bury 'em for the next proud owner. |
I agree with FF
Your selling the boat anyway put bolts ! |
Problam is if I dont sell the boat right away I stuck looking at the froggin ugly bolts all summer!
|
Is 400 bucks a good price to fix right?

depends who's "right"?
|
if your keeping it put the name over it and get to work on that ugly bottom paint line:lasso: :buds:
|
Fill the holes with a mixture of Epoxy and fiberglass. They have to filled right or they will leak water in and eventually ruin the transom.
Whether you redo the gel coat or cover it with a name is irrelevant. |
gelcoat
thanx
