Which plugs in the Spring at night?
Hey guys, what do you use in the early spring at night?
big plugs to immitate herring? Black Sluggos? If you use things like storms, do you still use dark colors? I'm tryin' to get my spring arsenal in order here. |
Go dark at night
Black Danny's, Black Sluggo's, Black Needlefish, anything dark and fished slow,
Storm Bunkers also work well when fished slow in the canal |
i dont usually fish at night in the spring . the sun bite is good in the spring . I use white and yellow during the sun times .

A-Salt and Large Bombers: Chartreuse, Yellow/White, Blurple, Wonderbread and School bus in your area on the North Shore.

Also, Silver Chrome works well on a full moon.

and what is the turnover? You mean when the big girls come in? Last year was my frist full striper season and I remember being kind of lost in the spring trying to figure out what worked and when. |
Big fat honking danny, and Steves surfsters! SLOW across the water, so slow you almost dream it in.

I find at night I pretty much use the same plugs all year long.Mambos and Bombers, dannies, needlefish generally in a dark pattern but not always.Slug-gos will be used more extensively this year though.
When its light out I keep it pretty basic.Metals such as Pt.Judes,Kastmasters and Crippled Herrings.Salty's 1.25oz olive/white popper. And squid imitating plugs too both night and day in the spring. |
